Synopsis
Julie Quinn's small, cottage garden reflects her experience of 35 years gardening in her leafy corner of Highgate, North London. It's a cleverly curated cottage garden where nothing looks too contrived, and the colours seem to flow. Over the years she has learned to keep it simple and let nature do its thing; she has chosen to grow hardy robust plants that will withstand attacks by pests meaning that there is no need for slug pellets or weed killers and the garden is filled with healthy plants that love the space they're in. By 'cramming the plants in'', very little staking is needed and there is hardly any bare soil. Julie believes that the best plants are the ones that can be dug up and 'chopped into two and re-planted', and that's about it when it comes to propagation. She has, she says, 'allowed nature to run wild' which has in turn encouraged a vast array of visitors - foxes, squirrels, birds and bees are in abundance and all are welcome.
