Synopsis
Karen's brief was to make a private entertaining/dining area and a separate seating space to relax in, but the challenge of this garden was to refurbish or disguise the unattractive old rendered garage. The garage was reclad in cedar and the old downpipes and gutters were replaced with beautiful new copper pipework. The centre of the garden was dug down into and a circular dining space for 6-8 people was created, which cleverly provided more of a screen from the neighbouring tall buildings to give full seclusion and privacy. A fireplace which is a central feature of the seating area provides a delightful place in the evening to sit with an aperitif before dinner. The overall result of the redesign was a much bigger usable garden space which delivered a lighter, softer and more colourful feel.
