Synopsis
Founded in 1947 the Weihenstephan Trial garden is part of the University of applied Science and today one of the most renamed gardens in Germany. The original purpose was to audit new perennial cultivars, therefore the estate had been divided up in elongated borders. There are still some trial fields in the garden, however today the focus is on plant combinations and includes trees, woody shrubs and annual plants as well. The science of the natural habitats has ben developped here by Richard Hansen and the garden contains all habitats from woodland to steppe and rock garden. On the other hand an increasing number of borders has been arranged following aesthetic principles, often with a certain motto as the colour schemed borders.
