Orange Lantern

Oranges make great festive lanterns which are cheap to buy, adding a splash of colour and a pleasant aroma. Materials required: oranges, cloves, bradle, spoon, knife and tea-light candle.

Synopsis
Using a similar technique you would use to create a Halloween pumpkin - but using far less elbow grease - you can make a decorative and scented lantern for your festive table or home. The orange and clove aromas that fill the room are synonymous with Christmas. Simply slice the orange in half, scoop out (and eat) the fruit before cutting out the shapes you want and adding the cloves in a decorative pattern. Place the candle inside and light it before replacing the other half of the orange as a lid.
